SVN to be used.

I am thinking of what SVN are we going to use...

Options:

Up-to-Date SVNs + Renewal

This SVNs are the latest one that is somehow closes to the latest updates of kRO and other Ragnaroks. That supports the latest content which is Third Classes(3-1, 3-2)
BUT, Ive read that to able for you to use your customs, You have to do something with your LUA files...

Advantage of point of view
We're able to use the third job skills and make jutsu from out of it.
We're be able to access the latest Maps and Mobs.

Disadvantage(s)
Some of Renewal's content uses Lua files which I really don't have any idea now, because I've quitted Ragnarok for ages. Its like I'm under a rock!
I'm not really updated of these things, I don't know where to start, UNLESS. We'll be able to get a developer that are highly knowledge with this things.

Older SVNs

The SVNs are older that only supports upto Transcendent jobs.

Advantage(s)
We can use the Transcendent jobs skills to make jutsu out of it
Easily to be edited knowing that I quitted RO using these SVNs.

Disadvantages:
We will not be able to access the latest maps, mobs and third job skills.

Are we going to use older SVNs that only supports Trans job, or the latest SVN + Renewal thats support Third jobs and third job skills?

Suggestions are highly recommended.

I think we should use the latest SVN of rAthena .

Why ?

rAthena is up-to-date and if we find bugs inside the Server's files we can easily post them on rAthena and they're going to be fixed really fast. Also yes,they use LUA files,but I have my own rAthena SVN on my Computer and it works fine,about renaming the Skills,I could test it on the LUA/LUB Files to rename the Skills and everything.

Any other one's,who suggest which SVN to use?

I was thinking using them too, Knowing that the Third job skills are awesome after playing some high rates servers earlier. Those skills are highly recommended to apply in this project.

But, It will take time for me to familiar these LUA/LUB files...

I tried searching what are these things and haven't found brief introductions.

So, Let me ask. Is Lua the new grf/data folder now?

The LUA/LUB Files are the new Configuration files,which are used to define the Job Names / Skills / Sprites (Customs and everything) / NPC Sprites , Mobs , etc. Back in 2008 there were the xRay Clients ,which used visionary_tab.txt and armory_tab.txt for theese things,so they got replaced with the LUA files,the LUA files are inside the data folder and configure the Client. It's not that hard to understand how to work with LUA / LUB files,I can show you how it works if you want me to. For this Project we surely need knowledge in LUA / LUB files ,which means Clientside modifications and Serverside modifications.

There is still the old Data folder,just a few things got removed and the LUA / LUB files have been added inside the client.

So its just like a modern version of xray then, So this Lua files are inside data folder... So meaning to say, We can't repack this data folder anymore? or the latest hexed client supports reading lua files inside a grf?

It's like this :

1st : You choose the SVN which you want to use. As example rAthena
2nd : We have to choose which Client we are going to use,by default in rAthena it's one of the latest stable ones,which is 2012-04-10
3rd : We have to compile our rAthena after the Configuration of the Server
4th : Download the RagexeRE Client of 2012-04-10 and diff it
5th : Download the LUA / LUB files,which are up-to-date to your Client Date
6th : Put them into your Data folder and make sure that your data.grf and rdata.grf are up-to-date,too now create the grf and put your data folder inside the grf
7th : Start the Server and check if you are able to connect to the Server and play on it.
